WHO/WHAT:
Upward Arts Academy is a 501 (c) (3) organization building a new kind of creative school-where it's not boring but ridiculously FUN! & INSPIRING!
Our 6-12th grade students learn from teachers who are the BEST at what they do! We have lessons in musical instruments, sign language, performance & media/content creation. This will be the best part of their week!
WHY:
We love kids! When you show them who God is, and who they are, and how special they are, it really does change their life. We are desperate to be a part of their journey, and yes they will learn some amazing talents but it's way beyond that. We want to support families and parents to give their kids a place they can THRIVE. Their tribe, their thing, their reason, their why. They can just be themselves, make friends, and have something to look forward to. We also provide sponsorships to assist with finances because our heart is for ALL kids to be a part of Upward Arts Academy! We can't wait to make them shine!
HOW:
We teach full songs, performances, & teach through application rather than just scales, chords, & theory. We teach through group lessons, then later all the students collaborate together to create events & shows. We give prizes, play games, and celebrate students as they achieve their goals. We go "UP" together.

I fell in love with music in 5th grade because I had the best music teacher around! I went on to earn a BA in Mass Communications & Film Production, receiving university awards in film and acting, while also having the opportunity to perform and produce TV specials, viral content creation & live events. As a multi-instrumentalist I love to play the guitar, bass guitar, piano, percussion, saxophone, clarinet, and to sing! I enjoy scripting, film production, editing, song writing & producing. My greatest joy is to help others see their visions of their arts dreams come to life!

CONTENT / INSTRUMENTS
I discovered my love for sign language at just 10 yrs. old after meeting an interpreter at my church, and from that moment on, I knew it was my calling. I later graduated from Seattle Central College as an ASL Interpreter with a focus on music, theater, and medical interpreting. Signing has taken me on a journey including interpreting for Celine Dion, Carman, & working with the Seattle Childrens Theater. Today I'm passionate about sharing this gift with others, creating a fun, inspiring experience where students can express themselves & discover the limitless joy of sign language!

This high-energy hip hop class will be all about getting fired up, having fun, and moving together as a crew! Students will learn fresh choreography in a group setting while building confidence, rhythm, and style. It’s a place to make friends, laugh, and grow as you train and push each other to the next level. From class combos to full routines, you’ll get ready to perform on film, on stage, and in music videos! All skill levels are welcome!
